Special Design Features / Comments:
The diverse program for this independent film company includes screening rooms, various types of offices from open plan to executive, conference rooms and state-of-the art teleconferencing spaces. Diverse formal structures are used; folded ceiling plates, displaced volumes, and disjunctive operations articulate the plan. The glazed clerestory mediates between ceiling and plan. Aligned and nonaligned systems - volume and plane, material and color - contribute to a visual fabric that offers workers and visitors diverse impressions and “points of view.” The ceiling plates are sloped to maximize the window views at the building perimeter. In this way, a connection is made to the surrounding urban fabric, and the insularity of the private office space is challenged. Description by SM + H
